Armchair Historians Rejoice! Fold3 and Newspapers.com now available

We are excited to offer two new historical resources: Fold3 and Newspapers.com. These new portals from Ancestry.com provide access to unique military records and historic newspapers to inform and enrich your history project or genealogy work.

Use the search bar or browse by military units, actions and more with Fold3.

If you are a user of Ancestry.com, these are excellent complements to research you may already be doing. Fold3 is a collection of images and records focused on military enlistment and service. You can search records by name and location as with other resources, but you can also search by a particular conflict or military action or project, from the Revolutionary War forward. Search by a military division, honor or memorial.

On Newspapers.com, select a state in the map, then refine by county, title, and other filters.

With Newspapers.com, you can explore digitized newspapers by state, county, and title. Select a state on the interactive map and browse all newspapers in the collection for that state. You can also simply browse using the facets displayed including country (choose Australia, Canada, Ireland, Panama, and the United Kingdom in addition to U.S. titles) and find titles for an exact date.

Select Browse to view papers from a selected country, state, city, newspaper title, year, month, and/or date.

Each page in Newspapers.com is a unique and high-resolution image file that allows you to zoom in on a particular article or image within the page. Most pages will allow you to search for text within the page. You can also search the entire collection of newspapers by keyword or phrase.

Find titles spanning the entire history of newspaper publishing, such as this early Boston publication.

You can access Fold3 and Newspapers.com here by clicking the links [click the text] in bold type above] or see them along with our other great databases on our online resources page.
