Need a ride? ChelmsfordRIDE offers transportation services for adults (18 years and older) throughout Chelmsford for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and pharmacy trips.
ChelmsfordRIDE also offers transportation services to Emerson Hospital, Lahey Hospital, and the Bedford VA Hospital.
Rides within Chelmsford are $3 round trip.
Rides from Chelmsford to neighboring towns [Billerica, Carlisle, Lowell, Tewksbury, Tyngsboro, Westford] are $5 round trip.
They also offer hospital trips to the Bedford VA Hospital, Emerson Hospital (Concord) and the Lahey Clinic (Burlington) for $15 round trip. Trips to Lowell General Hospital are priced at the Lowell rate of $5 round trip.

The LRTA Road Runner Senior Service and Dial-a-Ride – (pre-registration required) This service is for 60+ years of age residents needing a ride between the hours of 8am- 4pm. Before using this service, you need to register. Click here for the application form.

Dispatch will accept phone reservations from 8am to 3pm, Monday – Friday.
Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance, cancellations must be made by 5pm on the day before the reservation and all rides are wheelchair accessible.

Senior Center and Council on Aging Ride Programs – For seniors with transportation needs within Chelmsford.
Bus Service:
Transportation to medical appointments within Chelmsford and into Lowell only, must be made a week ahead. Call (978) 251-0533. Within town, $1.50 each way. Medical trips to Lowell or Westford, $2.50 each way. (10:30am-2pm.) All ride requests must be called in AT LEAST 2 business days prior to your appointment. You will receive a call back to let you know whether or not we can honor your request, based on availability.
Friday Grocery Trips (4-bag limit):

Lowell Transit Authority has public buses that service the surrounding areas. The routes/times change, so check online before heading out to a bus stop. They offer discounted tickets for those 60 years of age or older with ID.
