Rules: Open to kids from 0-18. Earn rewards for every seven days that you read (or practice reading). That might mean picking up a book, graphic novel or magazine, listening to someone read to you, or even playing reading or literacy games. Try to engage with reading for at least 5 minutes every day, and be sure to log your progress!

Adults can have fun tracking their reading and earning rewards too! Find out more here.

Rewards: When you have read for seven days (it doesn’t have to be in a row), you’ll earn rewards! For every seven days that you read, you’ll get to choose a pinback button. If you want, you can try and collect all twenty!

Activities: If you want to challenge yourself this summer, try to complete and log an activity from our list! This year’s activities include attending a library program, visiting the Storywalk, making art inspired by something you read, reading outside, listening to an audiobook, and writing a poem or song. You can complete each activity once and earn a badge for each one!

And remember…

Listening counts! No one is too young to participate in Summer Reading! Caregivers can record the time spent reading to children. If one child reads to another child, the time counts for both. Listening to audio books and coming to storytime count as well.

Read what you enjoy! Chelmsford Public Schools have no required books for children entering grades Pre-K-12 (aside from AP classes). You can read anything you want, including books, magazines, comics, and graphic novels.
