Preschool books on Monday, May 11
Storytimes will be stopping next week until July.
There will be work done in the children’s room, the week of May 18, to fix the air conditioning unit. There will be no air conditioning, the work will be noisy, and the conditions dangerous enough that we’ll have part of the room roped off. Dropping in to get materials is fine, but I discourage longer visits until the construction is finished.
Today we read 2 books about construction:
And then I read 2 books with bears, since the Teddy Bear Concert is this Saturday. The concert will be held at the Town Common at 10:30. Our musical guests will be Ben Rudnick and Friends.
Toddler book on Monday, May 11
An Excavator took down half of the house, next to the library, last Saturday.
I read The Construction Crew in case the demolition continued while the children were at the library on Monday.
There was no demolition, but the children got to see the Excavator and learned words for many other construction machines.
This was our last Monday storytime until July.
There will be construction happening in the Children’s Room next week. Workers will be using big machines to find a way to fix our air conditioning unit. I suggest waiting until the following week for a visit to the library.
Dads and Donuts in May
Our Dads and Donuts storytime was very busy. Tomorrow is Mother’s Day. There is an excavator on the grounds of the library tearing down a building. And we paraded over to Chelmsford Center to view a duck race after the storytime.
I knew I had to read 3 books to cover all these events.
Officer Michael, a policeman in Chelmsford, helped us cross the street to go to the duck race, just as officer Michael does in Make Way for Ducklings. He was very happy to do it, and I loved that he had the same name.
Books for Preschoolers on Wednesday, May 6 and Friday, May 8
To celebrate the spring sunshine, this week’s Wednesday and Friday preschool storytimes featured books and songs about the color yellow.
Next week (May 11-15) will be our last week of storytimes before we take a break to gear up for summer, so we hope to see everyone at the library for stories, songs, and fun! Summer storytimes will begin on July 1.
Toddler Storytime, 12-24 months, Friday, May 8
There was lots of energy in the room today with the sun shining and the air beginning to feel warm! The children were singing and dancing and clapping with each other for a fun storytime.
We read a big book together.
Baby Storytime, 0-12 months, Friday, May 8
Lots of excitement today at baby storytime – babies turning one, grandparents visiting, lots of shared milestones and laughs and smiles all around.
We read a favorite Sandra Boynton book!
Books for 4-6 year olds on Thursday, May 7
With Mother’s Day approaching, we asked the age-old question: is there anything that moms can’t do? Our first story attempted to answer that!
We also thought that today was the day the Dutton house was going to be demolished (it wasn’t), so construction/destruction machines were on our minds:
Happy Mother’s Day to all!!
