The staff at the MacKay Library hosts a variety of book discussion groups. The Mystery Group has been meeting for 13 years. "Novel Conversations" evolved out of the Oprah Book Group that began in 1998.

 Mystery Group

4th Monday of the month at 6:45 PM.

August 25, 2008
Harlan Coben and
Donna Leon

September 22, 2008
James Doss and
Kairn Slaughter

The Mystery Group picks two authors a month. Members read books by those authors and come prepared to discuss why they enjoyed these books (or why they did not like them.) Were earlier books better crafted than more recent ones? Have characters developed over the years? Do you get a true sense of the place where the story is set? What good Mystery books have people read recently?

The MacKay Library will have a wide variety of the featured authors' books available for loan in the month preceding each discussion.

"Novel Conversations" Book Groups!

This wildly successful daytime book group now meets on the first and third Friday of each month. Because of the popularity of this group and space limitations at MacKay we added a second group. Both groups meet at noon and both groups will read and discuss the same titles. Please choose either week 1 or week 3.

"Novel Conversations"
Either 'Week 1' or 'Week 3'

The book for September is "The Zookeeper's Wife" by Diane Ackerman. We will be meeting on Friday, Sept.5th and Friday, Sept. 19th, at MacKay Library at noon. October's title is "Crow Lake" by Mary Lawson.

If you would like to join or learn more about these groups, call the MacKay Library at 978-251-3212.
