Celebrate Chelmsford Winterfest 2014, Jan 31-Feb2

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference

Chelmsford WinterfestCome out and enjoy winter with Chelmsford Winterfest!

There are a variety of events around town this year, with both traditional Winterfest events and new activities. This year, the kick-off event is:

Friday, 5:30 -7:30 p.m. - Friday Night Lights: Night Snow Shoeing or Walk at Russell Mill Forest

Join the Chelmsford Conservation Commission for a special edition of "Friday Night Lights." We will meet at the main parking lot of Russell Mill Soccer Fields (105 Mill Road) at 5:30 p.m. and break into groups to explore the town conservation land. Different groups will allow everyone to participate, from a slow, leisurely walk to challenging trails at a moderate pace. Please bring a flashlight or headlamp and your own snowshoes or boots. This event is free and family-friendly.

From there, the weekend of low temperatures and high fun winds its way through a family movie night, ice skating, farmers' market, walks, photograph contest, stories, dancing, and lots of great food.

To conclude Chelmsford Winterfest 2014 in style, join us from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the main library:

Exhibit/Reception and a WinterFest Sunday Social to kick off "One Book Chelmsford"

Stop in to the Library on Sunday. The Cultural Council will be holding a reception for the Photography exhibit. Winners of the Photography Contest will be announced. Music by the Washington Calvo Duo and refreshments. Enjoy art and conversation and pick up a copy of the 2014 One Book title, The Art Forger. Celebrate Winterferst Chelmsford February 1-3, 2013

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference

Chelmsford WinterfestThe recent snowfall hopefully has gotten everyone in the mood for Winterfest Chelmsford 2013!

This year's Winterfest kicks off on Friday, February 1st, at 7:00 p.m. with the WinterFest Community Social at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts (after snowshoeing at Russell Mill 5:30-7:30 p.m., of course!):

We're All Townies Now! This year the popular community social that kicks off Chelmsford's WinterFest weekend will be held at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts. The cabaret on the CCA's lower level will be transformed into a townie's dream as we attempt to recreate Skip's Restaurant (use your imagination!). Test your Chelmsford knowledge by participating in Chelmsford Trivia matches throughout the evening. Dancing to the music of the Breaktime Band!

Local restaurants and bakeries will provide their best comfort foods. And as in past years, Harrington's Wines & Liquors will make it possible for us to sell beer and wine. Purchase tickets at the CCA and at the main Library ($15 per person).

We'll also be kicking off the annual One Book Chelmsford so as in past years, you can pick up a copy of the 2013 One Book read, Townie by Andre Dubus III at the end of the WinterFest Social. Check the Library's website for more details on the One Book program www.chelmsfordlibrary.org/onebook

A complete listing of events and locations is available at http://www.chelmsfordlibrary.org/winterfest. There will be lots of great food, fun, and people throughout the town for the entire weekend of Winterfest, so be sure to go out and have a wonderful time.

Celebrate Chelmsford Winterfest 2012!

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference

Chelmsford WinterfestChelmsford Winterfest 2012 is this weekend!

Snow or not, hopefully everyone is planning to head out around town for the many Winterfest activities, from Feb 3-5. Check out the Winterfest Website for a Schedule of Events and also an Events Map to see where in town you'd like to be.

Winterfest kicks off Friday night at 7:00 PM with a Community Social at the Library. This is also the kickoff for the Library's One Book Chelmsford program - this year we're not only doing more than one book, we're doing more than one author! Check out our One Book Chelmsford page for more details and event dates.

There will be lots of great food, fun, and people throughout the town for the entire weekend of Winterfest, so be sure to go out and have a wonderful time. You can also brush up on your "history of Winterfest" knowledge on the website - there's a video of some of the original founder Peggy Dunn talking with some of the other current coordinators and Town Manager Paul Cohen.

Be sure to take part to make this year another great success!
