Would you like a library card that works everywhere in the state?

The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners is researching whether or not a state-wide library card (a single card that would work in every library in the state) would be of interested to residents of Massachusetts.

In order to gauge interest, and expectations, of a state-wide library card, the MBLC is asking that everyone please fill out a short survey and let them know what you think:

The idea of a state-wide library card grew out of the MBLC's Resource Sharing Committee, which is trying to identify ways to improve library services and better allocate budget funds to best benefit Massachusetts library patrons. Your input will definitely help in their efforts. Thanks!

Last Week To Fill Out Your Library Survey (And Win!)

Thanks to everyone who has completed a Library Survey! The raffle drawing will be this Friday, June 15th - so if you haven't completed your survey, this is the final week.

The raffle prize is a baseball-themed basket, with books and Lowell Spinners tickets. Of course, the information you provide on the survey is very important too - we'll use it to help tailor library services to the needs of Chelmsford, to make sure we're providing tools and services most useful to Town residents.

For instance: many people are indicating they'd like the library to be open on Sundays. So, we will be! Sunday hours will begin the weekend after Columbus Day, October 14, 2012, and end the weekend prior to Memorial Day weekend, May 19, 2013. Sunday hours will be 1:00 - 5:00 PM.

The more information we hear from you, the better we can meet the needs of our community. Thank you!

Patron Survey: What Do You Think of Our Catalog?

When the Chelmsford Library, as part of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC), got the new Evergreen catalog earlier this year, part of the funding came from a grant awarded to MassLNC. One of the requirements of that grant is to report back on how patrons like the new catalog.

To that end, all MVLC libraries are asking their patrons to complete a short survey to share their experiences. There is also a spot to make suggestions for features you'd like to see added.

Please take a few minutes to fill out the survey - it will be available through the first week of January 2012.
