In case you're unfamiliar with it, a Roku is a small device that connects to a television and is used to wirelessly stream content from online services. Digital versions come with some of the DVDs we purchase, and these are the titles you can access through the Roku. The list of available titles is available on the Roku's catalog record.
The device circulates for one week and can't be renewal. You can place a hold on it from the catalog, to pick up either at the Main Library or the MacKay Branch. It comes packaged in a case that contains all the cables and connectors you should need to hook it up to your television or digital projector, along with a remote control.
Please see the Reference Desk or Circulation Staff if you have any questions, or stop by the Circulation Desk to check it out.Posted in Resources | No Comments »
We've offer Hoopla for over a year, allowing patrons to download audiobooks and watch streaming movies and television episodes, all using Hoopla. Now through Hoopla, you can also download ebooks and comic books to your computer or mobile device.
Downloadable comic books is a new digital format for us, and it compliments our print graphic novel collections (for Children, Teens, and Adults). The collection so far is small but growing, and some of the most popular titles have been:
The library has offered ebooks for years, mainly through our Overdrive catalog. The new ebooks through Hoopla are different. Just like the Hoopla audiobooks and videos, these ebooks are always available - which means no waiting lists!
Ebooks are a new format for Hoopla, so they're still building this collection too. A few of their featured ebook titles are:
All of these new Hoopla ebook and comic books can be checked out for 21 days (and of course downloaded again after that if you need more time, since they are always available!). Most of them are also available for both streaming and downloading to you mobile device.

Are you paying for a subscription to a service like Amazon, Hulu, or Netflix to receive digital books, movies, music and television? Did you know that similar services are available for free through your library?
With just a library card, you can download bestselling eBooks, like John Grisham's Gray Mountain; full-color magazines, like National Geographic; classic films, like "To Kill a Mockingbird;" and popular television shows, like "Wallander" and "MI-5." You can even download and keep up to five songs per week. Whether it's Mozart or Megan Trainor, select from among 8 million songs to keep for as long as you want.
Connect to any of these services from the library's webpage at http://www.chelmsfordlibrary.org/econtent/. For assistance with these services, contact or visit the library, sign up for a one-on-one help session, or register for one of the Tech Talk workshops held each month. The next workshops are scheduled for January 28 at 10 a.m. and February 4 at 10 a.m. Bring in laptops or mobile devices for help setting up, or just attend to learn more. Contact the library's Reference Desk with questions at email@example.com or 978-256-5521 x211.Posted in Reading Room, Resources, Web Tools | No Comments »
These can be accessed by visiting http://chelmsfordtv.org/streaming.php in your web browser. On the right, videos are grouped into categories:
To view a video, click one of the categories and then scroll down the list of available videos and click on the one you'd like to see. There is also a search box at the top of the viewer to find videos by keyword.
In addition to recording various the governmental functions of the Town of Chelmsford, most of the programs held at the Library will be available here online (these are naturally our favorites). So if you missed a program at the library, a Selectmen meeting, one of the many Public Access shows, or just about anything else that happened in Chelmsford, you can watch (or rewatch!) it at your leisure here - for free, any time day or night. DVDs of each program at also available for $10 - contact Chelmsford Telemedia for details.Posted in Programs, Resources | No Comments »
