Chelmsford patrons have access to a new museum pass through the Library: Einstein's Workshop, in Burlington.
Einstein's Workshop offers many science and technology classes, and has a great drop-in space. The Library's pass offers free admission during drop in hours and admits up to 2 children.
Drop-in hours vary, so check our museum pass website for more information, and to reserve a pass. You can also visit Einstein's Workshop's website at http://www.einsteinsworkshop.com for more information on their activities.
In other museum pass-related news, the library is running a trial for the summer to make our passes more accessible. We're going to waive our regular pass limits for any day-of-use pass that isn't already reserved that day. So, if you already have something booked, and another museum you'd like to visit is also available on that day, you can now borrow both of them.
At the end of the summer we'll evaluate how the trial went and decide how to move forward. If you have any questions or suggestions about museum passes, please contact the Reference Desk at email@example.com or 978-256-5521 x211.Posted in Library Information, Resources | No Comments »
It runs May through October, and is valid for weekdays only. It is a 2-for-1 ferry ticket coupon for up to 4 people (so, two people could go for the price of one, or eight people could go for the price of four, etc) - however, it is based on the availability to either Georges or Spectacle Islands (good for one island only).
The ferry boats are run by Boston Best Cruises, and schedules and fares are available online or you can call call 617-770-0040 to make a reservation. You must present the coupon at the ferry center at Long Wharf North on the Boston waterfront.
This pass (and discounts to many other area museums) is available on the library's website, or you can contact the Reference Desk at 978-256-5521 x211 to reserve it.

We just added another new museum pass for patrons to use - One Stop Fun in Westford.
Our pass admits one child and one adult to the indoor playground at no charge (a $9.99 value), and passholders can upgrade to use the pool for an extra $5.00. This pass, and all our other museum passes, can be reserved through our Museum Pass webpage.
One Stop Fun "was originally known as Gymnastics Unlimited, Inc. and Gym Mania, Inc. When we expanded our center to include a full service Dance Center, the ultimate Party Place and our interactive outdoor Pool Plaza, we became One Stop Fun."
Be sure to read about the other new resources we recently added.Posted in Friends of the Library, Resources | 1 Comment »
Through the library, Chelmsford residents now have access to a few new research and reference databases, and one new museum pass:
New Museum Pass
New Research Databases
In case you didn't already know, discounted passes for many area museums and parks are available through the library. You can reserve passes through the library's website or by calling the Reference Desk (978-256-5521). There are 17 museums and parks in all, with some of the most popular being the Museum of Science, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Discovery Museums in Acton, and the New England Aquarium. And, the library just added a new pass - the Davis' Farmland & MegaMaze in Sterling.
Also, starting April 1st, 2007, there will be a new system for reserving passes online. All of the same passes and guidelines still apply, but the screens will look a little different. The new system will allow people to view multiple days at a time, and can also send and email to remind you to pick up your pass. Another new feature is that people will be able to delete reservations for passes they no longer want - just click on the "My Passes" link to manage all of the passes you have on request.
Funding for these passes is provided by the Friends of the Chelmsford Library, as well as from individual patrons. Passes are available to all Chelmsford residents and any member of the Friends group. To reserve passes online, you will need your library barcode number (from your library card) and your PIN. Anyone with questions or problems should contact the Reference Desk for assistance.
