Monday, May 6th, 2013 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference

Chelmsford Water District Customer Confidence Report 2012The Chelmsford Water District recently published their Annual Customer Confidence Report for 2012, and it is available online as a PDF.

The report contains useful information concerning the water quality of Chelmsford, the makeup of public drinking water, health information, water and plumbing facts, and questions and answers about the Chelmsford Water District and Chelmsford drinking water. For instance:

Where Does My Water Come From?

The Chelmsford Water District customers are fortunate because we enjoy an abundant water supply from 19 sources. The Chelmsford Water District draws water from the Merrimack and Concord river basins. Our reservoirs hold one of the state’s largest capacities: 15 million gallons of water. Combined, our facilities provide roughly 1 billion gallons of clean drinking water each year.

The online version of the report is available on their website [pdf]. If you'd like a printed version, copies are available at the library or you can request one by contacting tmelanson@chelmsfordwater.com or 978-256-2381.

Water Mains Being Flushed This Week

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference

Chelmsford Water DistrictThe Chelmsford Water District will be flushing water mains in the Town Center beginning October 11th, between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM. Flushing will continue on the nights of the 12th, 13th, and 18th.

The flushing will cause discoloration in the water, but the Water District will attempt to use water hydrants to alleviate discolored water before morning.

The Water District asks that residents check their water each morning to make sure it is running clear before they use it. Also, check your backflow device to be sure it is not leaking after the flushing.

Flushing beyond the Center is scheduled for October 19th, 20th, 25th, 26th, and 27th, between 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

For more information, please visit http://www.chelmsfordwater.com or call the District Office at 978-256-2931.
