The last scheduled donation drop-off day for the book sale is Saturday, August 30th, from 9am-Noon. Volunteers will be at the Yellow House (next door to the library) and available to help unload cars.
The absolute last day for donations is Friday, September 12th.
This is because the Yellow House has been sold and will be moved, and we'll have nowhere to store donations for awhile. So please, if you can't get the donations to the library by September 12th, hold onto them at home until we're able to accept donations again.
2014 Book Sale schedule:
The sale will take place in the gym behind the Town Office building, 50 Billerica Road, Chelmsford [see a map].
Run by the Chelmsford Friends of the Library, the book sale is a significant source of funding for library programming, museum passes, and many extras for Chelmsford patrons – the 2013 Book Sale raised over $25,000!

Stop by the Readers Advisory Desk in the library (across from the main desk) to get suggestions for what to read next. If you can't make it into the library, use our online Reading Recommendations Form to give us some information about your reading tastes, and we'll provide you with a list of books we think you'll enjoy.
If you prefer the self-serve approach, our Reading Room webpage has several reading lists and other tools to discover new titles and authors.
Please contact Christine Sharbrough, Head of Readers Services, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 978-256-5521 x210, if you have any questions about these tools or books in general.Posted in Books, Library Information, Resources | No Comments »
The Chelmsford Friends of the Library has started recruiting helpers for the annual book sale, September 20-22. Sign-up sheets have been placed at both the Main Library and MacKay Branch for anyone who is interested in volunteering.
The Friends are looking for help on Thursday, September 19, from 6-9 p.m. to unload books from boxes and setup for the sale, as well as for various shifts throughout the Book Sale weekend. This is a this fun work weekend and makes a huge impact on the Library - last year the sale raised over $24,000 to help fund library programs and services.
If you can help, please stop by the Library to add your name and phone to the sign-up sheets, or email email@example.com to let us know - please specify which shift you would like.
Shifts the Friends need to fill:
Even if you can't help out, please support the library by visiting the book sale if you can this weekend:
In case you missed the latest Friday Fiction program, the lists of suggested reads are below. This time, in addition to the usual list of suggestions, there is also a bonus list of staff suggestions for great summer beach reads:
If you need more suggestions, or have specific questions about reading or books, check in with Christine S. at the Readers Services Desk on the main level of the library (across from the Front Desk). She's there 9:30 - 4:30 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, or you can reach her by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also find reading suggestions through our Reading Room webpage, which groups suggestions into lots of different categories to make them easy to locate. It also has links to all of our book groups, great free web resources, and much more.Posted in Books, Reading Room | No Comments »
To see this list, just click the New Book Alerts button on our homepage. Once there, you can use the menus on the left to see just DVDs, or just Childrens books, etc.
Along the top, you can click to see previous weeks, or see more than one week at a time. These new items lists just started last week, so it'll take a few weeks to build up.
Speaking of book lists, did you know the library has a Reading Room webpage devoted to provided reading suggestions? From there you can find best seller lists and lists of award winners, "read-a-likes" similar to your favorite books and authors, staff picks, and also a list of places from which to download ebooks.
And if you'd like to have reading suggestions delivered to you automatically, via email or RSS feed, check out our Electronic Signups page. You can sign up to receive notifications of new items, best sellers, library events, our Twitter feed and more!
If you have any questions about these options, please contact the Reference Desk.Posted in Library Information, Reading Room, Resources | No Comments »
