New September Overdrive Titles

The new Overdrive titles have been added for September. They should appear under new titles shortly but to view them now go to http://mvlc.lib.overdrive.com, click on "Browse all digital audio books" and then choose to sort by "Date added to the collection." There are 34 new titles this month.

New Titles Added to Overdrive

A new selection of downloadable audiobooks have been added to Overdrive. To review or download them, go to http://mvlc.lib.overdrive.com and click on "New Titles" from the menu on the left side of the page.

New Downloadable Audiobook Titles and Features

A few updates have been made recently to our downloadable audiobook library.

Patrons can now click to browse by two new subject categories, "Historical Fiction" and "Literary Fiction." Also, over 150 new titles have been added in the last few months, bringing our total downloadable audiobook library up to almost 600.

To log into this service, go to http://mvlc.lib.overdrive.com, or look for the logo above on the library's homepage.

Funding for these digital audiobooks is provided by both the Chelmsford Library and the Merrimac Valley Library Consortium, and we use the Overdrive service. If you have any questions or need help with this service, please contact the Reference Desk.

Digital Audio Books Guided Tour

Overdrive Media, the company through which library patrons can download digital audio books, has developed a guided tour for their service.

The tour has visual instructions on how to get started, install the software, browse for and download audio books, and more. For help with this guided tour, or with digital audio books in general, please contact the Reference Desk.

Digital Audio Book Downloads

Here's some great news for folks who like to listen to their books. You can now download mp3 audio books from the comfort of your own home through an exciting new Digital Download service available at the Chelmsford Public Library's website. Once you've downloaded the book you may then listen to it on your personal computer or on an MP3 player. Most books can even be burned to CDs. All that's needed is a valid Chelmsford (or MVLC) library card and access to the internet; you will be prompted to install Overdrive's free media console.

Or, stop into the library for a demonstration - the Reference Department now has a download station set up in the library, where you can download right to your mp3 player. This is great for people with no computer at home, or those with slow connections or Macs.
