The Chelmsford Public Library is taking part in the international "Big Library Read" program. This year's selection is Nancy Clancy, Super Sleuth by Jane O'Connor!
In addition to print copies, patrons can also borrow ebook and audiobook versions will also be available from our Overdrive catalog from September 16th through September 30th. To supplement the "Big Library Read," the Chelmsford Library will hold a book discussion on Monday, September 23 from 4:00 - 4:45 p.m. for 3rd and 4th graders who want to talk about this book. To register for this discussion, you can call the Children's Department at 978-256-5521 x4, or register online.

The Chelmsford Friends of the Library has started recruiting helpers for the annual book sale, September 20-22. Sign-up sheets have been placed at both the Main Library and MacKay Branch for anyone who is interested in volunteering.
The Friends are looking for help on Thursday, September 19, from 6-9 p.m. to unload books from boxes and setup for the sale, as well as for various shifts throughout the Book Sale weekend. This is a this fun work weekend and makes a huge impact on the Library - last year the sale raised over $24,000 to help fund library programs and services.
If you can help, please stop by the Library to add your name and phone to the sign-up sheets, or email firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know - please specify which shift you would like.
Shifts the Friends need to fill:
Even if you can't help out, please support the library by visiting the book sale if you can this weekend:
The Library has partnered with the Chelmsford Open Space Stewards to create a "StoryWalk" along a trail at the Sunny Meadow Community Garden.
The entire story of Sheep take a Hike, by Nancy Shaw and illustrated by Margot Apple, has been laminated and placed on sign posts along the trail, so kids and adults alike can read the story as they hike the trail.
The story follows a group of sheep taking a nature hike - which is a perfect summertime story. The StoryWalk will be changed periodically throughout the year, to match the season. Taking the StoryWalk is a fun way to enjoy the story and get a little exercise.
If you can, come join library staff and COSS volunteers for the StoryWalk ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, July 27th, at 9:00 am. Even if you can't make it then, please enjoy StoryWalk all year round!
Thank you for the Friends of the Library for funding our StoryWalk project, and to the COSS volunteers for their work in the field. Also, thanks to Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, for coming up with the original StoryWalk idea!
This StoryWalk is located at Sunny Meadow Community Garden, at the end of Robin Hill Road near Route 27/Kate's Corner in South Chelmsford.
