Winterfest: Feb 5-7, 2010Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference
Events are scheduled all over town, starting Friday night with snowshoeing at Russell Mill Forest and ending with a winter nature walk at the Archer Meadowbrook Reservation, with all sorts of fun indoor and outdoor activities for the entire family in between. Check out the Wintefest Schedule of Events for complete details, and a map to each event location. And if you go snowshoeing Friday night, be sure to stop by the library afterward to warm up with our “Sweet Suspense and Lethal Libations” event – lots of desserts, books and conversation. The Chelmsford Cultural Council’s 14th Annual Chelmsford Photography Contest at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts (CCA) will be on display during Winterfest, Saturday & Sunday, February 6-7, 2010. Applications are due by Friday, Jan 29th, 2010, and can be dropped off at the library. Application forms are available at the Reference Desk and also on the Cultural Council’s website in both pdf format [pdf] and as a Word document [doc]. Contest Rules:

The film, “Great American 4th of July,” will be screened on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. The screening will be held at the the Chelmsford Center of the Arts at the Old Town Hall, and is free and open to the public. And speaking of filmmaker Fred Barzyk, DVDs of Fred’s first Chelmsford film, “Our Town our Voices: Introduction to the Library,” are available at the front desk of the main library. If you haven’t seen the film yet please take a copy while there are some still left.
