Summer Camp InformationTuesday, May 29th, 2007 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference
The MA DPH also include a booklet from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control entitled “Extreme Heat: A Prevention Guide to Promote Your Personal Health and Safety.” This was included because most summer camps include strenuous outdoor activities, and this guide outlines ways parents and children can prepare for, recognize and treat heat-related health conditions. Both of these items are available on the lower level of the main library, near the Reference Desk, and on the State’s Recreational Camp website. Chelmsford and The SimpsonsSaturday, May 26th, 2007 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of ReferenceDid you know? A few of the background illustrators that work on the television show The Simpsons grew up in Chelmsford. They drew on the images of their childhood to create parts of the Simpsons’ town of Springfield. To see a few places around town that you also might see in the show, as well as an interview with show illustrators Lance Wilder and John Krause, visit the library’s Chelmsford and The Simpsons webpage. Updated Career Guidance ResourceTuesday, May 22nd, 2007 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of ReferenceOur career guidance database has a new look! The changes to the database include a fresh and cleaner look, better search capabilities, a Career Opportunity News newsletter, and a great deal more content. The Library subscribes to Ferguson’s Career Guidance Center, from Facts on File, which is a resource offering information on jobs, careers, scholarships, industries, work skills, resumes & cover letters, and more. Patrons looking to find a job, change careers or just improve their job qualifications, can use this database to find out what skills different jobs require, and then get tips on how to obtain those skills. To log in and start using this information, go to the Career Guidance listing of our database page, and either click on “In Library” (if you’re in the library), or if you’re at home, enter your library card number and click the Login button. For assistance with this or any of the library’s other databases, please contact the Reference Desk. New Library RSS Feeds Available!Sunday, May 20th, 2007 - by: Brian Herzog, Head of Reference
